Do yourself a favor and get some MoTown into your life. Check out a Spotify playlist or two. I think you'll recognize a lot of the songs from American movies — My Girl even got expanded into an entire (devastating) film. The comparison to the Beatles and Stones was just in terms of fame within the genre — though they did get a lot of crossover from MoTown. The Stones actually covered a lot of MoTown, including "Ain't Too Proud to Beg." edit: Here's a basic starter list. One thing about MoTown is that every song is a hit.
