You're on your way, bro. I know when I realized that I wanted to play the blues like SRV & Jimi, I went to listening to the older stuff that they listened to, & tried to absorb as much as I could from that. Which was ideal, I think, because the soloing in older blues stuff is (for the most part) not super-fast & complex, it's just about getting your bends & vibrato sounding good.
