Description

Starts out with folk metal classics then heads into a selection of darker, more unknown bands in Pagan/Black metal territory. It's my private metal playlist, so I tend to add newly discovered stuff that I want to remember for myself as opposed to the well known stuff I can find from memory. Horn <3

The metal albums by Myrkur are probably as close as you get to the Bergtatt album by Ulver since its directly inspired by it. Someone else mentioned Saor. If you happen to enjoy that you should definitely take a look at Cân Bardd as well since they are heavily influenced by Saor. The older albums from the German black metal artist Horn might also be to your liking, make sure to check out the Naturkraft and the Kraft der Szenarien albums! Definitely don't miss out on Falkenbach, which is a household name among folk metal enthusiasts who like the darker ways of playing it. Suldusk goes in the same direction as Agalloch and features some nice switches between folky, fairy-tale like sounds and metal riffs similar to Bergtatt. For more stuff that leans heavy into the atmospheric side I recommend checking out Summoning. Their stuff is extremely atmospheric and Tolkien inspired, so if you happen to be into Lord of the Rings and such as well it might be of particular interest. The sound is a lot more modern due to the lack of any folk elements but I find Alcest is also very atmospheric and ethereal in their sounds, so that will be my last recommendation. Hope some of these are of use for you! I'm gonna use this chance to plug my [metal playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5kX3citptDABpnpKIoqxCJ?si=EzVmQuN9T4epXF2dv-5DAw) which mainly contains folk and black metal and heavily leans into the atmospheric side. You'll probably enjoy it if you liked the recommendations :)
