What's up /u/kazoof, Considering you do like prog rock/metal/ cleaner vocals id suggest the following order The Anatomy Of Colors II Automata I - > II Coma Ecliptic The Great Misdirect Parallax I - > Parallax II Colors Alaska The Silent Circus Self Titled Ok , ok, so I'll get murdered by most fans for suggesting the anatomy of first but here me out. TAO is an album of only cover songs. It gives you a feel for their influences and also shows that they, like you, aren't only interested in heavy crush-your-body extreme metal. Next is Colors II. As the latest release it is independent enough to stand without any context to Colors but also will thrill once you have deep dived into Colors. Next Automata. Their release from 2018 can be consumed in two convenient 30 minutes sections. They exercise many styles and have a good balance of harsh and clean vocals. Plus, Condemned to the Gallows got a Grammy nomination. Coma ecliptic is slowly slipping towards their heavier side but is a great concept album with plenty of stylistic variety The Great Misdirect is beautiful. I want to make a movie of it. It's a great into to some cool themes, and has lots of fun consumable parts to it. Songs are usually broken up as "Mirrors & Obfuscation" , "Disease, Injury, Madness & Fossil Genera" when played live, with swim to the moon being debatably their best album closer when compared to White Walls and Silent Flight Parliament. A must listen. PI & PII are speed of light space opera metal. They are awesome. Combined with songs from other albums or makes for a cross album non linear story line that crescendos insanely. Become the night owl, Prospect. The rest of the order is pretty quick transition to when they were first considered prog back into the deathcore days. The production becomes more raw as you go back. I recommend listening to the OGs and then the remasters. *****VERY IMPORTANT ***** LISTEN ALL THE WAY THROUGH "The Need For Repetition" Overall, BTBAM is not something you can approach in a wrong way. My person preference for listening is the full discog in chronological order from start to finish. Here is a Spotify playlist that accomplishes that for your reference and use: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5rhBf9wuUEKbCvjasPAHyT?si=iX1t_umAQEWA7dtFDUqfhw&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1 Regardless of how you listen, sleep on, fly on, you will always be part of the great misdirect. Your last exhale is purple smoke, please pick up the phone it's been ringing. Everything's a novelty. Enjoy my friend.
