There was a movement adjacent to vaporwave for a couple of years called 'vapour' that involved a lot of music by artists surrounding, influencing, and being influenced by 2814 and the two blokes comprising the project. Outside of the vapour stuff check out the dreampunk subgenre. It's heavily influenced by Vangelis/Blade Runner-inspired synth sounds, minimal beats, and vocal samples. Almost all of the newer shit is directly inspired by 2814 and the traction that project built. It experienced a renaissance a year or so back, presumably with the Cyberpunk ethos gaining traction what with the game and all. A lot of former (and new I guess) vapour and vaporwave artists returned to or adopted the style and a few labels put out some massive compilations and playlists.
