The magnum of Barolo was my Covid wine. I got Covid in December and lost my sense of taste and smell completely for over two months. It came back quite slowly and I still don't know if I'm 100% yet. But I figured, hey, since I'm not drinking good wine for a few months, spend a few bucks on a great mag. **1996 Poderi Luigi Einaudi Barolo** \- Still had monster tannins. Popped and decanted for over 3 hours and periodically took a sip. It softened out after a little bit but those tannins were still the dominating flavors. Super light, high acid, very little fruit, and mostly tannin. It was still super enjoyable with a nice meal and I got to share this with some folks that have never had properly aged wine this old, so that was really fun. **1994 Domaine de la Charbonniere Chateauneuf-du-Pape** \- This was really fun. Popped and poured and it drank great, especially following the Barolo. It had decent fruit left and some great, super light but still a little bit of juiciness. This was also really smooth. Probably past its prime but it was really fun to drink. It also gave me an idea. When we drank this wine I only played music from 1994 and it turns out, that was a GREAT year for music! So I made a playlist (I also recently bought a 1994 Miata). Here you go: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/00ezdH55qA131wQg65BHcL?si=8d468f01c3764220
