>new >Blue Scholars HOO BOY do I have some suggestions for you. A few years back I got hooked on Blue Scholars, and since then I've been really into hip-hop. Guessing from the Blue Scholars shoutout that you like more conscious rap, and care a lot about lyricism (even if you don't know it yet). So, here we go (and give all of these a chance at least, you might find some hidden gems): * Kendrick Lamar - listen to all of "To Pimp A Butterfly" * If you want something with a lot harder beats, Run The Jewels, especially RTJ2. * BAMBU! Oakland-based, worked with Pro Brown on a few projects (including [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1ZVvTPQv08)), I'd start with "Welcome To The Party" and follow that up with "Prey For the Devil". Hell, all of his label, Beatrock Music, is worth checking out. * Flobots, of course. "Fight With Tools" is a stellar album, and they have a new project coming out, keep an eye on that. * Black Star / Mos Def / Talib Kweli. NYC rap, with Black Star being Mos Def and Talib's collab project. Mos Def's put out some classics (["Mathematics"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5vw4ajnWGA) is my go-to), and Talib has some truly beautiful albums IMO ("Prisoner of Conscious" and "Eardrum" are my recommendations, with "Gutter Rainbows" a good #3). * Watsky, though some users here seem not to be the biggest fan of him. Idk, I love his whole discography, and not afraid to admit it. * Mick Jenkins, one of the best names in the game right now in my mind. "The Water[s]" is a work of art. Can't praise him enough. * Deca is not well known but one of my absolute favourites (I'm big on jazz-influenced rap), ["Breadcrumbs"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a3-1TgyB6k) is a good starting point. * Anderson .Paak! I've been on that Breezy Lovejoy shit since "Venice", and "Malibu" is right up your alley I think. * If you want something really out there, and if you like Frank Ocean - Kevin Abstract. It's S A D B O I shoegaze-esque hip-hop and I love it. Here's ["ECHO"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-FC9l8dJaM) * If you're also into jazz, give Thundercat a listen, godlike bassist who's done some stellar production. I could go on and on, but here's a few playlists instead if you're interested, just hit shuffle and enjoy! (Through Spotify) [Jazz Rap & Noir-Hop](https://open.spotify.com/user/1235100443/playlist/06jvtDFVq0NMDz8wUKQo0U) [Backpack Rap](https://open.spotify.com/user/1235100443/playlist/7rXTZTZOnsIJzUmetgtP1z) [#FuckDonaldTrump](https://open.spotify.com/user/1235100443/playlist/206jkJESGh3NCLCRYGcWl4) (disclaimer: doesn't actually have FDT on it) If you want some songs more to vibe to than anything, [club bangers // vibes](https://open.spotify.com/user/1235100443/playlist/5o3huifGROLSZZFZ60ANOs) is where I put everything in that vague category. Let me know if you have any questions! The list may look daunting, but that's just because I have too many suggestions.
