[Billboard Japan Streaming Songs](http://www.billboard-japan.com/charts/detail?a=stsongs) is the JP equivalent of [US Billboard Streaming Songs](https://www.billboard.com/charts/streaming-songs) (or Korea's rarely cited [Gaon Streaming Chart](http://gaonchart.co.kr/main/section/chart/online.gaon?nationGbn=T&serviceGbn=S1040)). It's only intended to be 1 "component" to the main chart (Hot 100, or Gaon Digital Chart). It was less reliable in the past when hardly anything was on streaming, but nowadays Japan is successfully well into the streaming age. Streaming Songs is just purely ranking songs by number of plays from popular music platforms, there is no little methodology behind it. Japan's main Hot 100 is pretty broken since it incorporates things like physical sales and SNS activity in strange ways, so I largely avoid it. [If you use Spotify, I also maintain a playlist if you like to hear what's popular...I guess.](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/084tQlwqAz19px7eJH7gRT) It's not like Korea where half the songs are ballads and OSTs, but admittedly there's still a lot of sleepers and cringe. Lately, there's quite a bit of K-pop too, partly cause Nizi Project summoned a whole new hallyu wave and also cause BTS and BP have been independently making international waves.
