i definitely agree here-- i have [a big ass compilation playlist](https://open.spotify.com/user/1261638960/playlist/0NC9EBtiB1XdS6DhzH2L4a?si=XFpi6QB6Tg6OPAFd1Dslqg), but the ones i enjoy listening to most are the ones i create with a specific flow in mind. i'm pretty well practiced at this thanks to [college radio](https://open.spotify.com/user/1261638960/playlist/4qZTDtu9e333zBxq7RGb9Y?si=2bACwIhdTFmr32pSM9aB3g) (this is the playlist i update every time i do a show; i'm ending this year early to go home and get some mental health treatment, but there's more on my profile) and i have 41 2-hour long playlists that blend really smoothly. i also have [the playlist i made when my cat died](https://open.spotify.com/user/1261638960/playlist/2krtUHPBqqKWGyMRk8zAZL?si=gagL3WbrTb2RB_-7kaapAg) (16 songs, 1hr) which gives me a sense of emptiness but also love and everything is gonna be ok. ​ curation is a form of creation and a lot is lost just throwing tracks into a playlist and putting it on shuffle imo. it works sometimes, but more often than not it makes for an unfocused listening experience.
