Hey there! I'm happy you've decided to explore the k-indie scene! Yeah, I agree in some way! I'm not a fan of ballad so I kinda avoid them too (even with Western music) but there are some bands and soloists that are really good (and YES I love that you mentioned HERD!!!! If my 20s had a netflix adaptation, starlight is the ending song lol). Most songs don't have the crazy structure of kpop which is sometimes refreshing. It makes for a chill listening. And because they have enough time to have the main melody linger, there's also more care for the instrumentals and the overall vibe it gives. I collect k-indie songs on my [spotify playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1X0CiOHx9nHwq5BW633jmg?si=a_iqnP4BTR-X_XXlSQcm0A&utm_source=copy-link) (please note that rnb, chill hip-hop and some chill kpop songs are also included)! My fav so far: 1. OOHYO - She is really good. There are English ver. Of some of her songs but besides the slight translation and vibe change (the consonant closed sounds of English is sometimes less pretty than the more vowel-oriented Korean words) I can say that her English songs are still really good. My fav from her is Butter Chicken (very haunting, beautiful tragic) and Vineyard (both English and Kor ver really captures the essence of youth lol) 2. SE SO NEON - This band is the band. They might be my fav Korean band. The vocalist has such a nice, husky, carefree voice. My fav from them are: Midnight Dream (watch the mv then listen to this while riding a bike real fast and u feel like you're the protagonist of some indie movie), Winter (really passionate, really emotional and feels a bit wild), Wings (this one is not technically their song but So!Yoon!'s who is the main vocalist) 3. oceanfromtheblue - Talk! (feat. MRSHLL) THIS IS GUARANTEED TO MAKE YOU SING. BEWARE. 4. THE SOLUTIONS - Mood for Love (very pretty and heavenly. It's like falling cherry blossoms) 5. Summer Soul - She's been one of my fav. Very easygoing vocals and interesting subjects for her songs. My fav from her: Kill Your Darling, Billionaire 6. AND FINALLY THE BEST KOREAN INDIE BAND ACCORDING TO THIS RANDOM REDDITOR: The Black Skirts Ahh, I don't even know where to start. They sometimes weirdly remind me of foster the people and FUN. They have really good songs, that's cliche of an explanation why they're good but it isn't a lie. My fav: 1. Hollywood - this is it. this is the opening of a great indie romantic movie. 2. Everything - another romantic song. The mv captures the vibe of this. 3. My Shadow - slow but the GOOD slow. The instrumentals (that guitar plucking subtly every now and then) is very ethereal. This is long but I'm just happy to see a fellow k-indie enthusiast! If you have a public spotify playlist, let me know! 😄 also will totally check out the other 2 artists u mentioned
