In a mini-taper this week with a goal(ish) half marathon coming up on Saturday. I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this. It's been a decent couple weeks of training but my head isn't quite in racing mode. Plus my original plan of running on anger kinda dissipated when I learned that the target of my ire won't be doing this race as I had thought. Bummer. But at least there's beer afterward (gotta love races hosted by a damn fine brewery). 1. Like I said, I'm kinda excited to be out there racing this weekend. I'm curious to see what I can do (conditions should be interesting with a 15-20 mph north wind and mid-50s temps). 2. I used to be a pen-and-paper guy but I've switched over to Mapmyrun. I'd be a Strava-ite, but I only use the GPS watch for 10-20% of my runs, so that make Strava kinda useless. 3. Hoo boy. I'd probably opt for Cerutty because I like a touch of insanity...kidding there. Honestly, I would love to go back and be coached by one of the coaches of a different school in my college conference. I did a couple running camps with him and I really liked his style; the school just wasn't for me though (though the guy still remembered me whenever I'd see him at meets--class act). 4. The only time I listen to music when I run is when I am carrying my phone with me while I run down to my running group's meeting point immediately after work (I'm the asshole on the streets who plays the music without headphones). Otherwise, I have music going at work or home or in the car. Spotify is just wonderful. Oh and yes, it's too early for Christmas music. It's always too early for Christmas music.
