[Here is a playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2XKUAi0n3lhzlPp0e3n0zt?si=k-OIwxnTQimMtsKmDI_uWw) I made to practice to that has a number of songs like John Mayer's work on "Where The Light Is", which is Mayer's live album that includes amazing versions of those songs. The list includes songs by Cream, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Johnson, Steely Dan, Wes Montgomery, Dire Straits, Freddie King, and Guthrie Govan. My favorites that get close to Mayer's work that you reference are probably "Little Wing" by SRV, "Beautiful Imperfection" by Guthrie Govan, and "Going Down" by Freddie King. I would also recommend checking out Albert King, Johnny Winter, ZZ Top, Derek Trucks, and John Mayall, as well as Hendrix's "Morning Symphony Ideas" album (which is a treasure trove of beautifully phrased parts). That being said, if you like Mayer's phrasing and want to learn how to play like that, I would just recommend learning as much of "Where the Light Is" as possible. There's really nothing quite like that album. I don't have it all memorized any more, but there was a point where I could play the entirety of that album from start to finish and it made me a much better player. Phrasing like the solo in "Come When I Call" -- particularly from 1:50 to 2:05, with that rhythmic drop off -- is pure gold in my opinion. Also, his intro to "Gravity" on that album is a masterclass in linear legato melodic phrasing. If you don't have the technical skill to play slide like Derek Trucks, that type of phrasing is one way to make your guitar sound much more like a person singing.
