Oh, boy! Long-ish post ahead. So, I actually really liked the focus on Hip Hop culture and everything that came with it for Unbound. I will always appreciate any game that makes a genuine effort to mix in influences or ideas that are normally not seen in other titles within a respective genre. Overall, I really enjoy Unbounds soundtrack ([to the point of me making a personalized soundtrack that tries to follow Unbounds style](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2jWaNDcT0HMfTj4Sqqj5Wj?si=61ba91c56ada4763) ), sense of style and general aesthetic, and I'm not completely opposed to having more of that, albeit with a much better overall execution. That being said, what I personally would love is for there to be a NFS game that still has a big focus on Hip Hop culture, while *simultaneously* having an equally large focus on other aspects of car culture. One of the things that I kinda hate as a car enthusiast is when people say that Need For Speed (or any racing game for that matter) needs to have a focus on "car culture," while not expanding on that at all. Thing is, car culture isn't just one thing, nor is it something that you can use as a label for what you want expecting it to cover all bases without any need for expansion, which is something both the fans of NFS, as well as Criterion (and other past dev teams) have gotten wrong in varying degrees. Hip Hop and Street Culture do not define contemporary car culture, but they are unquestionably parts of it. At the same time, Street Racing and Import Car culture *also* do not define car culture, but they are absolutely parts of it, too. My ideal NFS would be one that has a focus on Hip Hop and/or Street culture, but also has an equal focus on other aspects of car culture like Muscle Car Culture, Lowriders/Mooneyes, Stance, Drift, Imports, Exotics, etc. Not only that, but give proper justice to those elements not just with the cars, but also with their own unique music, visual customization, build style, driving/racing style, general aesthetic, characters and more. From a gameplay perspective, the player should also have as much freedom as possible when it comes to how much or little they explore. Make it so that if a player wants to just stick with Imports and be the Tuner King, they can without a major detriment. Or, also have the option for a player to dip their toes in everything if they want. The problem with such and undertaking is that such a game would be *very* expensive to pull off, and would likely need to have a longer-than-average post-launch cycle. The only series I've seen *kinda* get this right more than once is Forza Horizon, and that's coming from a major 1st-Party studio backed by one of the worlds biggest technology companies. The closest NFS has gotten to capturing (at the time) contemporary car culture was with Pro Street and it did a pretty solid job in that area imo. Sadly, the actual game itself was lackluster. I think it would be amazing if there could be a game that truly captures the many facets of car culture, and I think NFS would be the best fit for it. TL;DR: My ideal NFS would be one that gives proper justice to *all* facets of car culture, not just a couple.
