People who say that are talking about the "mainstream hits". Obviously there's still great music, but let's compare 2021 to, let's say 2003. Look at [this](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DWXODx4qTnKLo) vs [this](https://pitchfork.com/features/lists-and-guides/best-rap-songs-2021/). No way in hell you think ANY song on that second list comes close to just the first 3 songs on the 2nd. And you could go 2020 vs 2006, 2019 vs 2008 etc. MAINSTREAM SINGLES are just not good anymore.
