We didn't use a DJ because we wanted full control of the music, didn't need announcements/introductions, and wanted to save money. We had about 75 guests, many who like to dance! We rented speakers, a mic, and a mixer from Guitar Center (NJ, USA) and connected a laptop. We have Spotify premium, so we made sure to download our playlists (one for cocktail hour, one for after dinner dancing) because the venue didn't have wifi, and brought a backup device and connecting cables, a power strip, and a small table for the laptop/mixer/mic. We spent a LONG time curating our playlists - [cocktail hour](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3jqDeJnWIcCIykZbnVOg49?si=HZCtuMM7RkGNpez-nw8kzQ&utm_source=copy-link) was instrumental songs from our favoeite nerdy fandoms, [dancing](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5sNL4D5qnJrZCvInE1N3Op?si=WtLCd6iEQLOSDEWfOx1PMA&utm_source=copy-link) was our first dance song, then setting the tone of nostalgia/party for the rest of the night, classics at the beginning before older relatives left, slow songs every 5 or 6 fast songs.
