You like Against Me! so start there. Listen to bands that they've toured with. Have you read Laura's memoir? Someone took the time to make a [huge playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4aFX8ebU7RQvKZYpkWieVr?si=g_TqUSqnTSyFpy-ZFuPW9A) with all the songs she mentioned in the order they appear in the book, it's pretty cool. If you find something you like, make a note of it and listen to some other songs by that artist. Don't worry about if it's "punk enough" just worry about if you like it. I strongly encourage you to check out any band someone recommends and decide for yourself how much you like them. It can be helpful to listen to the old stuff to get a better idea of the history and how it informs music today but if you find yourself not enjoying it, put it on a metaphorical shelf for later and find something you enjoy. Letting people tell you what music you should like is pretty un-punk no matter who is doing the telling. You're just getting started so start with the things that make you want to rock out and hear more, not the stuff that makes you feel like you're taking a class and wondering when lunch is. Over time you might find yourself actively looking for that history (or not, that's cool too). You might also check out Dan Ozzi's newsletter [Reply Alt](https://danozzi.substack.com/p/welcome-to-reply-alt) for both wisdom/amusement and to find new bands to listen to. If you're more of a podcast type you might check out [Going off Track](https://goingofftrack.com/). Like everything else though, if these bore you, set them down and return to them later when they seem more interesting. You do not have to identify with 100% of what you percieve to be punk culture. Identify only with the parts that resonate with you. Be true to yourself.
