What kinds of bands do you listen to? I am someone who cares very specifically about lyrics and I find bad lyrics almost always put me out of a song if I am paying attention at all. Just to give an example: > [You are In My System](https://open.spotify.com/track/4066CL9r7Gx7U8arfanDGi?si=037df8c822a24823) - AM & Shawn Lee which is a neo-synth track that has a great beat, but if you listen to what he is saying it is actually pretty coherent, not cliche, and flow effortlessly over the beat. Not to say every time I listen to this song I am razor focused on each word or verse, but when my mind does start to concentrate on the lyrics, I find them to have actual weight. It is a little different when the song is primarily instrumental: > [So Heavy I fell Through the Earth](https://open.spotify.com/track/1BFzO8coSKQHqAqOqcWNkE?si=b9df9887dc8f4557) - Grimes where the minimal lyrics seem to serve more as texture than the focus of the song. But still the lyrics are very well placed and chosen. Coming up with great lyrics is hard, and in a lot of cases, less is more. Good lyrical songs can also be raucous/obscene, like: > [Pardon My Freedom](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4wKEzHTjJjfDI0hnIPTyRR) - !!! Where again the lyrics are more like instrumentation than poetry, but still appropriately bombastic ("Tell the President He Can Just Go Suck My D**K" and "Like I give a F**k, Like I Give A S**t about that F**k" ) for the back beat.
