Please share! ** I'm going to go ahead and say sorry for the long post.. I got carried away. Of course you don't have to read all this lol. Most of the songs on the playlist are 70s and 80s music. From Simon and Garfunkel to Blondie to The Beach Boys to John Denver to Otis Redding. It's a good mix. I'd also love to hear about songs that bring up happy memories for you, like what you associate the song with if you (OR ANYONE) want to share that. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5IoRQXbrmASno9d0hFn32E?si=jeKdnlqpSg6OXEVVFjO60Q I'm sorry for your loss. It's so hard. I'm glad you have a friend who you can just cry and talk to and just be with. They're a good friend. 💕 I have a playlist for my dad too. He got really sick really fast. They pretty much put him in Hospice right away (he had multiple organ failure) and kept him sedated and comfortable. But we could visit whenever we wanted for as long as we wanted. I went late one night so I could be alone with him. When I was little he used to make Coke floats for us... he'd tease me and be really loud about making it so I'd come see what he was doing. Then he pretended it was for him before he finally ended up sharing it with me, which was obviously his intention from the start. That late night at Hospice I brought all the items to make a coke float, made our float (even tho he couldn't eat it) and just played our songs and held his hand. I ended up sleeping there that night. He died the next day. Some of my favorite ones or ones that remind me of happy memories... we used to dance a lot and just play around listening to music. - Mountain Music by Alabama. A song I always requested and that my dad would happily play on his old cassette player. I actually took the cassette to show and tell one time to share the song with my class, who knows what went on in my little pea brain but I loved this song so much.We used to dance around in our living room (that had ugly blue carpet and a wood paneled wall), laughing and singing. Me and my mom always made fun of the way my dad danced but he would just laugh and keep dancing with a big smile on his face. - Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel. This was my dad's song to my mom. He loved her very much and would have done literally anything for her. I remember watching them hold eachother and dance to this song. It was like I wasn't even there because my mom and dad were so into eachother that's all they saw. They showed me what love is supposed to be like. My dad showed me how a man is supposed to love his wife. My dad showed me how a man is supposed to love his children. He truly had an unconditional love for me. I don't think they make men like my dad anymore... - Annie's Song by John Denver. Another song my dad liked to play for my mom. - Lola by The Kinks. One of "my" songs. I loved it. I named my favorite baby doll Lola. Now that I know what the song is about... kind of a strange favorite song for a little girl lol. - Little Deuce Coupe by The Beach Boys. Another song that was extremely overplayed in our house because of my frequent requests at about 7/8 years old. Loved dancing with my dad to this one also. - Stand By Me by Ben E. King. - Life's Been Good by Joe Walsh. - Footloose by Kenny Loggins. We loved the movie and the soundtrack. - Amie by Pure Prairie League. If you don't like to turn this up and sing along... you're missing out. - Lean on Me by Bill Withers. - Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard by Paul Simon. A frequently played song in our dance/living room. - California Dreamin' by The Mamas and The Papas. One of my dad's favorites. - Can't You See by The Marshall Tucker Band. Volume always turned up if this song came on in my dad's truck. - Piano Man by Billy Joel. A good one we used to sing along to. - Bad, Bad Leroy Brown by Jim Croce. Another one we sang all the time. Sometimes when we would mess around my dad would call me Leroy Brown or just Leroy lol. - Doctor My Eyes by Jackson Browne. Add this to the list of songs repeatedly danced to in our living room.
