It’s a deep well you’ve just discovered. There’s a lot in it. Here’s an [alt-country classics (1990-2010)](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5Lb8K10IxfM2cvnTEleNLj?si=EjFQXnz6Rb-6lBnbcPkAHA) playlist that should give you the basics and a [modern country (2010-2020)](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7783gJifze9hbCEX6iRa1p?si=ifb0D7omSWaeBRlPIyB9Ig) one that’s kind of like a sequel. Here’s another playlist, [Progressive country -1970s,](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/75tQBR0NUPer3BSPlbLdEL?si=wPsMSitoSTSG75bummxn5Q) that’ll have a bunch of things you might dig if you’re into Gram Parsons and The Byrds and that sort of stuff. I’ve been working on that 70s playlist for a while, but I got conflicted about adding George Jones stuff because even though he was putting out top quality country music in the 70s and he’s had a huge influence on country music since then ([Jason James](https://open.spotify.com/track/3IQJDfbHx14zdUmX8sqC0y?si=NiWGC2DKT1WKHNcxhVMkxg) does a spot on Possum imitation and [my fav Charley Crockett song](https://open.spotify.com/track/3TuSTA53TwEYh59wKawvE1?si=1582s-ekT4SrIXKsct6ZAQ) is a Possum cover) he was definitely a mainstream Nashville artist and the early alt-country folks (like Guy, Townes, Gram, Terry Allen, Doug Sahm, etc.) were a reaction to that. To answer your question more directly, you’ll probably wanna check out Uncle Tupelo, Old 97s, and Drive By Truckers among many, many others that I can’t think of off the top of my head. Anyway, country music’s pretty great. Hope you find something you like!
