Hell Yess!! Genres are totally bullshit anyway. Long ago I "downgraded" the importance of genres and instead place primary importance on: * Mood * Energy Mood and Energy are far more important than Genre any day. One of my favorite tracks to play back in the day was [Brainbug - Nightmare \(sinister strings\)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByV9eCikkaU). This is a **trance/techno** act. The genre makes no difference to me that song rocked the dancefloor! For a more modernish example just take a listen to Seven Lions. [Here is one of their most popular tracks.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fthOxQ0rAds) - obviously nothing that would fit in an industrial club. It is upbeat, low to mid energy, relaxing, uplifting. But just wait a minute they also made this [industrial club banger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAs4uzK4KjU) in 2015! It is dark, moody, brooding, introspective, and high energy! This track is exactly what I think "Modern Dance Industrial" should sound like. [Here is a another modern dance synthpop-industrial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGQi4TfyfOw) (2020) sound I like. OP probably classifies both of these tracks as "techno". I love crossovers, and hate genre gatrekeeping. If it's dark and moody and high energy then I play it. I do not give a fuck what genre you think it is. PS: If you are interested in leaving genres behind for mood and energy, here is my all genre Spotify playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5SGT98Df8rbXvgBlFFtOXC?si=80807a610cf947bd
