I went to Austin last week for a job interview. It didn't go well. I ended up having a panic attack during my interview, which is something I had never had before in my life. Things only got worse from there. I had just graduated, and with a dearth of job offers, I left behind my fiancee for a job in Madison, WI. The plan was for me to make it to the end of the year. I was never there for the long run. In late August, I met Girl A while we were in Server Tech Camp, a class for us in our roles in Technical Services. I was more or less tepid about things. I knew it wasn't my long term goals, but Girl A was the friend I made in the time I was there. We always had a good time. We worked through exams, and got to be friends. I went to her apartment a few times, and we made cupcakes and watched "Sons of Anarchy." I was engaged to my ex-wife at the time, and didn't think there was anything between us beyond friendship; With as jealous as my ex-wife was of, well everybody, I never introduced the two, as that would have been a bad idea. By Thanksgiving, I was gone. my ex-wife and I got married that April, and there wasn't much else happening. We'd talk on Facebook from time to time. When Clemson and A&M announced the series in 2014, we made a promise that we'd be at that game together with a tailgate to remember. We were both excited, it would be a great time to catch up. My ex-wife and I were divorced in 2016. Girl A had started seeing someone. Soon, I started seeing someone. Last September, we went to Austin for my birthday. We met up with Girl A for the Clemson-Louisville game saturday, and then watched Football on Sunday at her house with her, her bf and her friends. We took a trip to HEB to get the stuff to make our signature Chocolate-nutella-ferro rocher cupcakes for my birthday. They were everything I remembered them to be, and that weekend, which was so low key was right up there with the year before when we saw OAR and the Hunts in Vegas and Salt Lake city, and I got a personal happy birthday from both bands at the show. So, we segue into later Friday. Rainey St. is the hot place in South Austin to go and day drink. I had just had a horrible interview, so, after meetingGirl A at the Yeti Flagship store, we decided to drop my car off at my hotel (which was practically on Rainey St) - From there we went around everywhere - Gernaldine's, Icenhauers, Container bar, Banger's Sausage House, and on and on. Talking about everything. Life, plans for the A&M game, our adventures at Epic, go-live hell, and our new jobs. Things were going great, I was a bit inebriated, but without a car to worry about, I wasn't going to end up in a bad spot. Finally, we came to our last stop of the night - Lucille's. We were there the night Clemson beat Louisville, and it was a good time. We're sitting down, talking, and she drops the bomb on me that she loves me, and kisses me. I'm taken aback, and then she says it again, and tells me she wishes she told me sooner. I decide we're both too drunk to deal with any feelings so, I should take her home. I go to close the tab, and come back to her in a heap - high heels and tipsy aren't a good combo. Fortunately, she wasn't hurt, but her pride. She ended up making it home safely after I got her sobered up. So, now I'm dealing with this. Having to re-think everything you thought you knew about life is a real bitch.
