TL;DR I made a daily-updating Spotify playlist based on the "hot" posts on r/metal [Spotify playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5u51TosBghGtxdTYWuHUPv) I see a lot of tracks from really great bands posted on here, many of which I don't know. I want to check a lot of them out but I often browse reddit at times or in places where it's not feasible to listen to music. So generally I try and make a mental note to go back and listen when I can, but I usually forget. So I had the idea that it would be cool to automatically put the top couple of dozen tracks each day into a playlist so whenever I am in a position to listen to music, they're all there waiting for me. I wrote a little script at the weekend to query the reddit API for a list of tracks from a sub and then search for each of those tracks on the Spotify API and replace the contents of a public playlist. I've deployed it with a scheduled trigger so the playlist gets updated every day. The playlist is [r/Metal Hot](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5u51TosBghGtxdTYWuHUPv) and the code for the script is on [github](https://github.com/timbarclay/reddlist). Incidentally I also have it scheduled for r/progmetal and the playlist for that is [r/ProgMetal Hot](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/42xBtEmKk8GTsbjfX7XDFi).
