The first Dylan album that I came to appreciate was Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits (1967). I must have been 12-13 years old when I acquired a CD copy (circa 2007 - shortly after *No Direction Home* aired on PBS). Initially I was mesmerized by the hallo effect of the cover art and loved "Positively 4th Street" (which eventually became the title for my undergraduate senior thesis). When I began high school, I hit the treasure trove and discovered that my father had Dylan's first seven albums on CD. Everyday I arrived home from school, I'd listen to 5+ albums in one sitting. I don't recall any of my high school homework assignments - but I do remember all-nighters where I'd stop typing, droop my head, and sit in awe throughout Dylan epics such as "Desolation Row", "Chimes of Freedom", "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall", etc. I also remember spending countless weekends re-ordering my 1gb mp3 player to make more room for Dylan's catalog for my walks home from school. On my last day of high school, my AP Literature teacher asked my class to write a letter to our future selves. I remember struggling to write that particular paper because I had a lot of family issues going on in my personal life at the time, but I do recall proclaiming how "Highway 61 Revisited" was the greatest album of all time. In the nine years since my last high school paper, there's been over a dozen official releases, including "Side Tracks" - my most listened Dylan album according to [my Last.FM account](https://www.last.fm/user/jeremysayspeace/library/albums). Despite the hundreds of records I've collected throughout college or the [10,000+ track library that I've assembled via Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5w2ruEyGSIQRulHgfBJYqu?si=d9eb44ccd06d42a2), I still have a fond spot for "Greatest Hits". Everyday I wake up, I see a framed copy of the [Milton Glaser insert poster of Bob Dylan](https://www.moma.org/collection/works/8108) \- as a reminder of not just the luminary we love, but as a kick-start for me to give gratitude for all the formative life experiences I've had since I first discovered Bob Dylan. tl;dr - I know most folx are probably going to nominate studio albums, but I'm going to with an unorthodox choice and choose "Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits" (1967) with the hope that it helps kindle a love for all of Dylan's works.
