\*Bitter Mai Tai\* * 1/2 oz Campari * 1 oz Jamaican Rum * 1/2 oz Cointreau * 3/4 oz Orgeat * 1 oz Lime Juice Since my wife and I got swallowed up in the world of making cocktails at home, the Mai Tai has remained an absolute favorite of mine. Incredibly refreshing and infinitely riff-able. This is a slightly modified recipe that we got from the excellent book Easy Tiki. And I’ll admit that I probably make this version of the drink more often than the original. It’s everything the original brings to the table with the added depth of bitterness. For the next three weeks we are going to be doing a series of playlist/drink mixes, all of the music will be modern bands that sound like classic decades of music and each drink pairing will be a slightly modified version of a classic cocktail that was popular in that decade. The vinyl in the pic is the Mystic Braves’ eponymous debt record. The song Please Let Me Know is featured on the playlist.
