So I like to build playlists. It's a fun passtime and when one really comes together, and it's exactly what you want it to be, it's a resource you can go back to forever (I've got one "Overthrow the Government" playlist that slowly builds up tempo from folksy Phil Ochs shit until craschendos into a whole choir and orchestra singing La Marseilles). And I'm very good at it (my masterpiece is my Fallout playlist of songs from the 40s and 50s that fit the mood just right). But sometimes, I embark on a project only to find not only has someone already done it, but it's way, *way* better than anything I could ever come up with. And boy howdy did I find a winner today. Friends of the Free Talk Threads, I present ["Dad Rock".](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6xWPNmFhVZ5kERQKCPzY6Q?si=Mbvp0dkQR4qEEgC1OBdscQ) On top of all the Steppenwolfs and Deep Purples that you'd probably expect, there's just some subtly to this. 4 parts Billy Joel to 1 party Billy Idol? Genius. Highest saturation artist? ACDC and Fleetwood Mac. Perfect. Metallica, but only "Enter Sandman"? *Chef's Kiss*. Even the flow is perfect. Artists aren't just slammed back to back. He spread it out and these songs all flow into eachother. As an appreciator of the art, this is a masterpiece. I had to share it.
