For those interested, I have a weekly top 40 personal chart (shameless plug!) that is very female oriented, but every once in a while some males come in to get some hits. Here are all of the songs that have either hit #1 or were just blocked from the #1 spot on my chart that are male vocal led: (note, my charted started in January 2012) ## Number Ones * Neon Trees - Lessons in Love (All Day, All Night) (feat. Kaskade) [EDM-inspired pop/rock] * SoMo - Ride [r&b slow jam] * Pitbull - Timber (feat. Ke$ha) [I feel this is cheating, though.] * Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud * Nick Jonas - Chains * The Weeknd - Starboy (feat. Daft Punk) * Ed Sheeran - Shape of You [Please don't hate me for this.] * The Weeknd - I Feel It Coming (feat. Daft Punk) * Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE. ## Just Missed Top Spot * Breathe Carolina - Blackout [EDM-inspired dance pop/emo alternative] * Train - Drive By * fun. - We Are Young (feat. Janelle MonĂ¡e) * Breathe Carolina - Hit and Run [EDM-inspired electro pop] * Flo Rida - Whistle * fun. - Some Nights * Zedd - Spectrum (feat. Matthew Koma) * Bruno Mars - Locked Out of Heaven * Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child (feat. John Martin) * Olly Murs - Troublemaker (feat. Flo Rida) * Fall Out Boy - My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up) * Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Can't Hold Us * Timeflies - I Choose U [dance pop/very MKTO-style] * Capital Cities - Safe and Sound * Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines (feat. T.I. and Pharrell) [Again, please don't hate me!] * Bruno Mars - Gorilla * Bastille - Pompeii * Disclosure - Latch (feat. Sam Smith) * Rascal Flatts - Rewind [country, but hey, you gotta venture out sometimes!] * KONGOS - Come with Me Now * AJR - I'm Ready [pop/rock that samples SpongeBob] * Ed Sheeran - Don't * The Chemical Brothers - This Is Not a Game (feat. Miguel) [With uncredited vocals from Lorde! Electronic hip-hop.] * The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face * Duke Dumont - Ocean Drive [EDM dance pop] * The Weeknd - In the Night * MNEK - Never Forget You (feat. Zara Larsson) [Screw it, he was lead first before her team manipulated it, but even so, it's a near 50/50 duet.] * Noah Cyrus - Make Me (Cry) (feat. Labrinth) [Including this because it's a near 50/50 duet.] * Imagine Dragons - Believer [And here's a Spotify playlist of these songs!](https://open.spotify.com/user/1228278387/playlist/7h16c4i92zjW41mmTnKlha) Note, this is just the ones that were massive on my chart from 2012-now. It doesn't include other male-led songs that charted but didn't reach either #1 or peaked behind other songs that all went to #1, such as "Castle on the Hill," "Galway Girl," "Radioactive," "Oh, Hell," nor older songs like "Don't Trust Me," etc. [Also, special plug for this gem.](https://open.spotify.com/track/36BmpV4G5biSbEN141Tcyv) I actually know the lead singer, the song is dope. He graduated from my university two years ago. He went solo as Ryan Lombard as well, but those are more avant garde and experimental compared to this.
