Good day, pen friends. Every year, I like to look back on my accomplishments and acquisitions. There aren't many of the former this time, but plenty of the latter. In 2017, I bought forty-two pens, twenty-two bottles of ink, and listened to two hundred and eight hours worth of different power metal albums. Wow! That's a far cry from back in June 2016, when I first started looking into fountain pens seriously, and when I first started listening to metal. Normally, I only do this sort of thing in private groups. This year, I decided it would be fun to display the collection. If you've gotten this far, I presume you've seen the "family photo" in the OP. As follows in the next comment are my pens of note, the inks in my collection, and other fun things. Both are highly informative, with detailed pictures and histories of companies and specific pens, and are a valuable resource for information that any collector would drool over. For example, my Platinum Gosho-guruma can be found on page 302 of *Fountain Pens of Japan*. I think that's the coolest damn thing in the world. If you just enjoy using pens, don't feel like you need one of these books; they're expensive and really only of use if you enjoy learning the history behind companies and fountain pens in general. I've always been intrigued by this history. I look forward to picking up copies of *Fountain Pens of the World* by Andreas Lambrou and *Pelikan - The Brand* by Detmar Schäfer, which should be able to tell me more about Geha pens, before the company was bought by Pelikan. Something else I picked up earlier this year: [a pen chest](https://imgur.com/a/Vcrax)! I got tired of watching my pens accumulate microscratches in a drawer, and wanted something that could hold more than your typical wrap-up pen case, so I hopped onto eBay and grabbed a nice [60-pen case](https://www.ebay.com/itm/311935826230). The removable drawers are lined with a mystery material that is very soft to the touch. I definitely recommend it or something like it if you want a nice clean storage solution for a larger collection. Also important to me is a Discord server I joined a while back: [Pens & Friends](https://discordapp.com/invite/nmWkffc). As the name implies, it's a friendly, relaxed community for talking about fountain pens and everything related, as well as some unrelated subjects. I owe a lot of my purchases to their penabling, and the late night voice chats scratch an itch I didn't know I had. Come check us out and join the fun.
