I made a Spotify playlist, (link beow) for Pink Floyd fans.. to introduce them to 70s-era Genesis. Its not a "best of" Genesis.. but I curated it with specific songs that have a "similar feel" to (Meddle thru Wall) Pink Floyd. I dont think Pink Floyd fans should try Genesis in chronological order, as early Genesis had a very "English" or Baroque feel to it. Also, Genesis was a keyboard centered band, that used guitar (Steve Hackett) to augment their prog sound. Where as Pink Floyd was a guitar band that used keyboards to augment their guitar themes. Rule of thumb, if Steve Hackett is playing on the album.. its great. If he is not, your mileage may vary. He (and Phil) came in on the 3rd album (Nursery Cryme). Steve left after 1978's Wind and Wuthering. Also, I cant assume everyone knows... but Peter Gabriel was a founding member, and was the lead singer until he left after the 6th album (The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway). Phil Collins wasnt in Genesis till the 3rd album. And, for 4 albums, he was just the drummer and would do harmonies with Peter (and an occasional lead vocal).
